Research on AutoCAD
27.02.2025
- Initially decided on cloud-based rendering (Group Idea), in response to Vishva's Reader Response on the cons of AutoCAD.
- We agreed on the con Vishva pointed out in his argumentative, regarding the rendering issue and how it is heavily dependent on a good hardware.
- Agreeing that a cloud-based rendering to remove the requirement on hardware.
- Upon further research, the idea despite being unfamiliar, was already existing.
- I used ChatGPT to prompt for information; prompts used:
- About AutoCAD, Pros and Cons
- Expand on cons that can be addressed and have no existing or similar solutions
- Select viable issues that can be addressed and research deeper into the issue.
- Discussed with group members (Vishva & Tristal) with regards to the options.
- Debated with Vishva and Tristal with the options available, discussing pros & cons
of each topic. - Agreed on my proposal for "Real-time multi-user collaboration," agreeing that it has the most potential for the project.
- Worked out a rough workframe of how it would work, following a similar concept to Revit's BIM360's collaboration feature.

- Created Google Docs and an initial draft of the following items:

- Updated the following items
- Benefits.
- Refinement and adding details
- Source citations
- Methodology
- Primary Research
- Conducted interviews with CVE seniors
- Group discussion regarding our experiences
- Group Presentation
- Discussed with group about:
- Current progress of report
- Identify missing information needed
- Individual research understanding
- Cross reference to see if everyone is on track
- Clarify misunderstandings about research direction
- Group sharing ideas and personal experiences/opinions
- Assigned topics for presentation, focusing on each member's strengths and understanding of each topic.
- Presentation slides
- Individually worked on the slides for the assigned range of topics covering.
- Discussed as a group the flow and sequencing of the presentation topics.
- We discussed the layout style and overall format of the slides. (Minimal Text)
- Test run the flow of the slides, looking out for the smoothness of the flow, transition, colour, selected graphic, images and text size.
- Presentation practice
- Dry run with script without slides
- Identify if content was lacking or if there was too much content with respect to the allocated time.
- Dry run with minimal script with slides
- Identify if the slides were able to work well with the content covered.
- Dry run with slides only
- See if the images and graphics used were able to help with the presentation as a whole. Testing if the graphics can help us recall what was needed to be covered in place of a script. Also checking to see if the prepared graphic drive the point home for the topics they cover.
This is very detailed, Wencong. I appreciate the precise deacriptions. That's effective communication!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great effort!
I look forward to learning more about your current research process.
